A ceremonial event dedicated to Science Workers’ Day was held at Zhetysu University named after Ilyas Zhansugurov.
The event was opened by the Chairman of the Board – Rector, Yermek Buribayev, who congratulated the staff successfully combining science and education and making significant contributions to higher education. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of science in the development of society.
A key part of the event was the award ceremony.
By the decision of the Academic Council of Zhetysu University named after Ilyas Zhansugurov dated April 1, 2026, the title of “Honorary Professor” was awarded to Amire Arin, a poet and laureate of the international “Alash” literary prize.
Doctor of Economics, Professor of the Department of Public Administration and Management, Daniyar Kaldiyarov, was awarded the “Akhmet Baitursynuly” badge. Candidate of Philological Sciences, lecturer of the Department of Kazakh Language and Literature, Lazat Chaltikenova, received the badge “For Contribution to the Development of the Native Language.”
In addition, a number of scientists and lecturers were awarded the “Best Scientist” honorary diploma, as well as Certificates of Honor and Letters of Appreciation from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Rector for their achievements in science and education. Foreign partners who contributed to the development of international scientific cooperation were also recognized.
Students who won prizes in national subject Olympiads and research competitions, along with their academic supervisors, were specially honored.
The winners of the “Startup Zhetysu – 2026” innovative projects competition were also announced. The best projects received special diplomas and certificates worth 130,000, 120,000, 90,000, and 60,000 tenge.
