International Conference” Teachers Teaching Teachers: Sharing What Works”

An international conference titled “Teachers Teaching Teachers: Sharing What Works” was held at Zhetysu University.

The event was jointly organized by the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation Studies of the Faculty of Humanities and the U.S. Consulate General in Almaty.

The conference is the result of an international educational project launched in 2025 at the initiative of Dinara Zhabykbayeva, Head of the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation Studies, and Samal Dyusebayeva, lecturer of the department. Within the framework of the project, close cooperation was established with the U.S. Consulate General in Almaty, and concrete steps were taken to introduce international best practices in English language teaching.

One of the key milestones of the project was the arrival of international specialist Bronwyn Schieber in September 2025 under the U.S. Department of State’s English Language Fellow Program. This provided faculty and students with valuable opportunities to engage with modern teaching methodologies.

The main objective of the conference was to create a professional platform for sharing effective practices in English language teaching, strengthening collaboration between educational institutions, and enhancing international partnerships.

The event brought together both local and international experts, university faculty members, and school teachers.

In particular, representatives of the U.S. Consulate General and KazTEA President Tatyana Letyaykina delivered speeches emphasizing the importance of international cooperation. Additionally, international specialists shared their expertise and presented modern teaching approaches.

As part of the event, a trilateral memorandum of understanding was signed between Zhetysu University, KazTEA, and the U.S. Consulate General. The conference program included panel sessions and discussions, and participants were awarded certificates upon completion.
