On April 29, 2026, at 10:00 AM, a national scientific and popular roundtable titled “Ilyas’s Legacy: Language and Cognition” will be held at the “Palace of Languages” in the city of Taldykorgan, dedicated to the creative heritage of Ilyas Zhansugurov.
The event is organized to mark the 90th anniversary of the poems “Kulager” and “Isatai–Makhambet” by the outstanding representative of Kazakh literature, Ilyas Zhansugurov. The main objective of the roundtable is to reinterpret the poet’s legacy from linguistic, literary, and cultural perspectives, as well as to foster continuity between the academic community and young researchers. Participants will include scholars from the A. Baitursynuly Institute of Linguistics, university lecturers, school teachers, young researchers, and students. Acting Professor of the Department of Kazakh Language and Literature at I. Zhansugurov Zhetysu University, Candidate of Philological Sciences Sh. A. Kyyakhmetova will deliver a presentation titled “The Known and Unknown Ilyas Zhansugurov.” The moderator of the roundtable is Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Anar Muratkyzy Fazylzhan. At the end of the event, the winners of the national competition “Kulager of Kazakh Poetry” will be awarded.
