International exchange of experience

From 16 June to 1 July 2026, Professor Marian Janiga, PhD in Biological Sciences, from the Institute of High Mountain Biology, University of Žilina (Slovakia), delivered a series of lectures on the course “Protection and Conservation of Biodiversity” for second-year master’s students enrolled in the educational programme 7M01505 – Biology (group Бпм-211).

During the lecture series, the master’s students gained comprehensive knowledge of the contemporary scientific principles underlying biodiversity protection and conservation. The course addressed several key topics, including “The Importance of Biodiversity for Humanity,” “Factors Contributing to Biodiversity Loss,” and “Biodiversity Conservation.” Particular emphasis was placed on ecosystem resilience, the protection of rare and endangered species, the sustainable use of natural resources, international approaches to biodiversity conservation, and current priorities in global environmental policy.

Professor Marian Janiga emphasized that biodiversity conservation has become one of the most significant priorities in modern environmental protection. His lectures highlighted the importance of the responsible and sustainable management of natural resources, maintaining ecological balance, protecting natural ecosystems, and implementing the principles of sustainable development.

During the practical sessions, students explored contemporary methods for assessing and conserving biodiversity and examined effective strategies for addressing current environmental challenges. In addition, participants became acquainted with Professor Janiga’s research experience, engaged in discussions on contemporary scientific issues within the framework of international academic cooperation, and further developed their professional knowledge and research competencies.

Such international academic collaboration plays a significant role in strengthening students’ professional competencies, enhancing their research capacity, and promoting their integration into the global academic community. It creates favorable conditions for educating highly qualified and competitive specialists capable of contributing to the advancement of modern biological science and addressing pressing global environmental challenges.
