


A young researcher from Zhetysu University, Dr. Raigul Serikovna Zheldibaeva, is currently undertaking a scientific internship as part of the “500 Scholars” program of the Bolashak initiative at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. This university holds a high position in global rankings, including 69th place in the QS World University Rankings, and is among the top 20 universities in the field of research, underscoring its significance in science and innovation.
At present, Raigul is working on an international project in the role of an overseas observer and co-analyst. The research focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of a new educational tool CGScholar AI Helper which supports students’ writing skills. This project has received funding from the Institute of Educational Sciences of the U.S. Department of Education and is being implemented under the guidance of renowned scholars, Professors Mary Kalantzis, who is the mentor of the scholar, and Bill Cope. Based on the experience and knowledge gained, she has applied to participate in the “Zhas Ghalym” grant competition for young researchers for the years 2025-2027, in collaboration with University Professor Liam Magee on the topic “Artificial Intelligence as an Assistant in Learning Academic English: An Experimental Study.”
This internship not only contributes to the professional growth of young researchers but also helps to introduce new teaching and research methods in Kazakhstan. She is eager to share her experiences with colleagues and develop the educational environment in our country.
