Horizon Projects

Ilyas Zhansugurov Zhetysu University is a participant in two international projects funded by the European Commission under the Horizon program.:

«MOCCA: Multilevel Orders of Corruption in Central Asia»

    1 Project – “Central Asian Law: Legal Culture and Business Environment in Central Asia” is a 4-year research and training project funded by the European Commission’s H2020 MSCA-RISE program (project number 870647), which will last from 01/28/2020 to 02/28/2024. The aim of the project is to gain new knowledge and political understanding of the interrelationships between legal culture, governance and the business environment in Central Asia. The project is being implemented by 14 institutions in 11 countries of Europe and Central Asia https://www.centralasianlaw.lu.se/cal-project

Project 2 – “MOCCA: Multilevel Corruption Orders in Central Asia” is a 4-year research and training project funded by the European Commission HORIZON-MSCA-2021-SE-01-01 – MSCA Staff Exchanges 2021 (project number 101085855), which is being implemented from 01.2023 to 31.12.2026. MOCCA is a research and staff exchange program designed to contribute to global and national efforts to understand and combat corruption by conducting interdisciplinary research on multi—level corruption patterns in five post-Soviet Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan). The project is being implemented by 8 leading European universities and 9 partners working in the Central Asian region. https://mocca.blogg.lu.se/

As part of these projects, in 2023, 11 scientists from partner universities in Europe visited Zhansugurov Zhetysu University, where they held a series of seminars and guest lectures for teaching staff, young scientists, doctoral students and undergraduates of the university.

The staff of Zhetysu University named after I.Zhansugurov, Candidate of Historical Sciences N.K.Baigabatova and Master’s degree A.B. Kashaganova completed a 2-month scientific internship at the University of Zurich (Switzerland) from March 1 to April 30, 2023; Doctor of Economics, Professor D.A. Kaldiyarov and PhD, Associate Professor D. Nurmukhankyzy completed an internship at Lund University (Sweden) within the framework of the project “Central Asian Law: Legal Culture and Business environment in Central Asia”.

The project participants from Zhetysu University also participated in seminars held in Lund (July, 2022) and Istanbul (January, 2023; February, 2024), where they made presentations of their research.
