Meeting with schoolchildren

On the occasion of Science Day, a meeting was held at Secondary School No. 4 in Taldykorgan with university faculty members on the topic “The Significance of Petroglyphs of the Zhetysu Region in the Study of Local History.”

The event featured Associate Professor of the Department of Natural Sciences at Zhetysu University named after Ilyas Zhansugurov , Candidate of Geographical Sciences, and local historian E.A. Tokpanov.

Students of grades 7–11 were introduced to the importance of studying rock art, as well as the historical periods reflected in these petroglyphs, including the Bronze Age, Early Iron Age, and Turkic era. Particular emphasis was placed on the preservation of historical and cultural heritage sites and unique natural monuments.

In addition, the significance of researching local history and environmental issues—topics highlighted in the “Daryn” and “Zerde” project competitions—was thoroughly discussed.
