At the initiative of Kazakhstan, the United Nations General Assembly declared 2026 the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development. In this context, Zhetysu University hosted a charity event titled “From the Heart…”, dedicated to the 11th anniversary of the partnership between the university and the “Ainalayin” Children’s Support Center.
The event was organized as an important component of the university’s social responsibility policy and aimed at strengthening the culture of charity in society, providing comprehensive support to children, and promoting the values of compassion and kindness.
The main objective of the event was to enhance social responsibility by showing care and attention to children, to foster the development of volunteerism, and to further strengthen cooperation between the university community and the “Ainalayin” Children’s Support Center.
The traditional event was attended by the Rector of the university, Yermek Buribayev, who congratulated the children on the occasion.
“This event is not merely a festive gathering, but a genuine expression of heartfelt care. Our friendship, which has lasted for 11 years, is a shared value. The university community is always ready to support children, and these noble initiatives will certainly continue in the future,” he noted.
As part of the event, a cultural and spiritual evening was organized, during which children and students presented a concert program they had prepared themselves. By tradition, special attention was given to children born in the spring months. Gifts collected by the university staff and students as part of the “Gift Corner” initiative were presented to the center’s beneficiaries.
The charity event was attended by a Deputy of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of the regional akimat, public figures, partner organizations, university faculty and students, as well as children from the “Ainalayin” Children’s Support Center.
