


























On 12 June 2026, Zhetysu University named after I.Zhansugurov hosted the international scientific and practical conference “Social Sciences and Humanities and Digital Transformation: Experience, Challenges, Prospects”, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Professor Amangeldy Kamalovich Katenov, Candidate of Historical Sciences.
During the event, domestic and international experts held a comprehensive discussion on the impact of modern digital technologies on the social sciences and humanities, the challenges of transforming the education system, and promising trends in the development of this field. Furthermore, the meeting highlighted the inspiring life journey and invaluable contribution of the honouree, Professor A.K. Katenov, to the prosperity of domestic science and education.
The plenary session of the conference was opened with an introductory address by the Member of the Management Board – Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Zhetysu University named after I. Zhansugurov, Baurzhan Ryspekovich Taubayev, who read out a congratulatory message from the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. During the main part of the programme, Nazgul Kazhimuratovna Baigabatova, Candidate of Historical Sciences and Associate Professor, delivered a substantive presentation on the topic: “Scientist, Educator, Mentor: A Lifelong Calling (on the 80th anniversary of A.K. Katenov)”.
Special guests attended the event to congratulate the honouree and show their support for the work of the academic community. Among them were: Karabaev Kadyrzhan Zhumashevich (Astana) – former head of the Main Directorate of Counter-Intelligence of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and first deputy director of the Foreign Intelligence Service; Esbay Amangeldy Gabdylkarimuly (online) – Member of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Candidate of Historical Sciences; Yeginbayev Yermek Moldakulovich – Chairman of the “Ak Zhol” Party branch in the Zhetysu Region; Kuat Maratovich Baimyrzaev – Doctor of Geography, Professor, Director of the Research Institute of Biotechnology and Ecology at Zhetysu University; Smolina Irina Gennadievna (Abakan, online) – former Deputy Chair of the Government of the Republic of Khakassia, Candidate of Legal Sciences, representative of Khakass State University; Askhat Seidenuly Dosmukhambetov – Deputy Chair of the Zhetysu Regional Branch of the Amanat Party; Amangazy Akhmetkalievich Shegirov – veteran of labour.
The following papers were also presented during the conference: “Conditions for the development of creative experience in the training of future teachers” (online presentation) – Elena Viktorovna Berezhnova, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor at the Department of World Literature and Culture, Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation; “Strategic Management as the Foundation for the Professional Development of Future Specialists” – Roza Karpykovna Bekmagambetova, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the International Academy of Sciences of Pedagogical Education, Abay Kazakh National Pedagogical University; “The Colonial Frontier: A History of the Construction of the Russian Empire’s Military Lines in the Northern Region of Kazakhstan in the Second Half of the 18th Century and the First Third of the 19th Century” – Aibek Batyrkhanovich Shalgimbekov, Candidate of Historical Sciences, member of the Scientific and Expert Group of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, Associate Professor at the Department of History of Kazakhstan, Akhmet Baitursynov Kostanay Regional University. This international-level meeting served as an important platform for dialogue and the exchange of experience between academics, teaching staff and young researchers. Following the conference, a special collection of academic articles and papers will be published, based on the relevant ideas and research presented.
