At Zhetysu University, a methodological seminar entitled “Developing Educational Solutions Based on the Regional Workforce Needs Map” was held as part of the “My Profession – My Future” project.
The event brought together representatives of the National Center for Higher Education Development, the regional Akimat, the Departments of Education and Employment, the university administration, employers, colleges, and organizations from across the region.
The seminar was opened by Yermek Buribayev, Chairman of the Board – Rector of Zhetysu University, who welcomed the participants and wished them a productive and successful event.
Olzhas Sakenov, Deputy Director of the National Center for Higher Education Development, noted that Zhetysu University was among the first institutions to establish a project office and was the first to develop a regional workforce needs map.
Ermek Mizambaev, Head of the Zhetysu Region Department for Employment Coordination and Social Programmes, spoke about the current and projected demand for skilled professionals in the regional labour market. Dauren Onalbaev, Chairman of the Regional Chamber of Entrepreneurs, addressed the requirements employers place on young professionals.
Marina Skiba, Head of the “My Profession – My Future” Programme Office, presented approaches to transforming educational programmes based on regional workforce needs maps and atlases of emerging professions.
The seminar featured a panel discussion and group work sessions. Participants discussed the updating of educational programmes in line with labour-market demand, strengthening cooperation with employers, and taking into account in-demand professions and emerging competencies in the training of future specialists.
