FIELD RESEARCH AND WATER SAMPLING CONDUCTED WITHIN THE RESEARCH PROJECT

From November 27 to December 5, 2025, an expedition to the Aksu District of the Zhetysu Region was organized as part of the research project AR26102759, “Study of the impact of physicochemical and biological pollution of glaciers on water quality and individual indicators of flora and fauna of the Karatal River ecosystem.

The expedition involved project team members: Yerkin  Tokpanov, Associate Professor of the Department of Natural Sciences and Senior Researcher; Myrzabay Jetimov, Leading Researcher; and Kuanysh Tokpayev, Researcher.

During the expedition, field studies were carried out on the Kaskabulak, Kora, and Shyzhy rivers, as well as along the middle course of the Karatal River. Geographic coordinates of the sampling sites were recorded, and water temperature and other environmental parameters were measured.

A total of 22 water samples and 10 sediment samples were collected for scientific analysis. All samples were labeled in accordance with established requirements and prepared for laboratory testing.

The collected materials will be used to assess the physicochemical and biological indicators of water quality in the Karatal River basin and to evaluate the impact of glacier pollution on the river ecosystem.
