a scientific seminar

On April 10, 2026, PhD Toktanova Assel Kerimovna, a lecturer at the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation Studies of the Faculty of Humanities, conducted a scientific seminar entitled “The Role of the ‘Cognitive Potential’ Concept in the Development of Linguistic Reflection of Philology Students”. The main objective of the seminar was to define the scientific and theoretical foundations of the concept of cognitive potential in the development of students’ linguistic reflection, as well as to discuss its effectiveness in the educational process. The core content of the seminar focused on revealing the theoretical foundations of the “cognitive potential” concept, systematized on the basis of the scientific ideas developed by representatives of the Alash Movement. In the theoretical part, the essence of reflection and linguistic reflection was clarified, and the scholarly views of Alash intellectuals on this issue were analyzed. Based on this, an authorial concept aimed at developing the linguistic reflection of philology students was presented, along with a four-level methodological framework for its implementation. In the practical part, a variety of interactive tasks were developed using the capabilities of artificial intelligence technologies. These tasks were aimed at enhancing students’ cognitive activity and contributed to the development of linguistic analysis, self-reflection, and creative thinking skills. During the seminar, the nature of linguistic reflection, its structural components, and the role of cognitive potential in developing students’ analytical thinking, linguistic awareness, and communicative competence were comprehensively examined. In addition, the possibilities of applying modern pedagogical approaches and innovative technologies were demonstrated. The event was attended by faculty members and students, who actively participated in discussions and exchanged views on the issues addressed. The seminar was conducted at a high scientific and methodological level and received positive feedback from participants.
