The World Youth Weightlifting Championship was held in the Egyptian city of Ismailia.
At this prestigious international competition, Askerbay Alikhan, a student of the Faculty of Physical Education and Arts at Zhetysu University named after Ilyas Zhansugurov, competed in the new 88 kg weight category.
In the snatch event, Alikhan lifted 161 kg and won the silver medal. In the clean and jerk, he successfully lifted 194 kg, earning a bronze medal.
It is worth noting that the athlete successfully completed all six attempts without a single failure, confidently lifting every declared weight.
