On April 16, 2026, Jetysu University welcomed Italian writer, ecologist, Environmental and socioeconomic development consultant for Central Asia Mr. Roberto Boltri, who met with the university administration, the students and staff of the Faculty of Humanities, and representatives of the Center for International Cooperation.
The event was attended by Vice-Rector for scientific work and internationalization A. Bakhtaulova, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities R. Zheldibayeva, and Director of the Center for International Cooperation T. Kilybayev. During the meeting, Mr. Roberto Boltri presented his international projects implemented in Central Asia, including an environmental project related to the Aral Sea. He also spoke about his book “Una Tragedia Dimenticata” and donated several copies to the teaching staff and students of the Department of History and Social Sciences.
Roberto Boltri’s visit continued at the Marche Polytechnic University, based on Zhetysu University. The distinguished guest met with students of the double-degree programme in Agronomy and Italian lecturer Marco Fiorentini, discussing the benefits and importance of cultural ties and education between the two countries. In closing, Mr. Boltri presented his authored books on ecological topics to the Head of the Department of Ecology, Professor J. Kanagatov, which were placed on the shelves of the branch office.
Additionally, the foreign guest familiarised himself with the work of the scientific laboratories of the Research Institute of Biotechnology and Ecology and wished Zhetysu University continued success in the international scientific community.
