“Olzhas Suleimenov – a linguist by nature, an engineer-geologist by education, a poet by the grace of God!” (L. Martynov).
On April 21, in the A. Ayimbetov Assembly Hall, a performance titled “Az i Ya” took place, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of O.O. Suleimenov. The event was organized by the lecturers and 2nd–3rd year students of the Russian Language and Literature program. The role of chief director, producer, and scriptwriter was carried out by Associate Professor of the department, B.A. Auelbekova.
During the event, video materials about the life and work of the famous Kazakh poet, writer, diplomat, and prominent public figure were shown; excerpts from the poem “Earth, Bow to Man” and poems from different years were recited. Special attention was given to the sensational and once-banned book “Az i Ya”, devoted to the written monuments of Slavic and Turkic antiquity.
The event demonstrated that the works of O.O. Suleimenov continue to attract the attention not only of Kazakh readers but also of the global community.
