On April 28, 2026, a methodological seminar at the republican level titled “Reading Literacy: Teacher Training and Modern Methods” was held at Zhetysu University named after I. Zhansugurov. The event took place within the framework of the doctoral dissertation of A.S. Taurbekova, a doctoral student of the educational program 8D01301 – “Pedagogy and Methodology of Primary Education,” on the topic “Preparing Future Teachers for the Development of Reading Literacy of Primary School Students Based on Pedagogical Technologies.”
The seminar was attended by the faculty members of the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology of Zhetysu University named after I. Zhansugurov, Kazakh National Pedagogical University, East Kazakhstan University named after S. Amanzholov, as well as primary school teachers of Secondary School-Gymnasium No. 14 in the city of Taldykorgan and students of the educational program 6B01301 – “Pedagogy and Methodology of Primary Education” (ZU, EKU).
The primary objective of the event is to develop students’ ability to analyze reading literacy based on international and domestic research, as well as to form in future teachers the skills for the effective application of modern methods of working with texts within the process of professional training.
During the seminar, international and domestic studies that define the content of reading literacy are analyzed, and their comparative characteristics are examined. In addition, contemporary directions in the preparation of future teachers are considered, and effective approaches to working with texts based on pedagogical technologies are proposed. Practice-oriented tasks are organized for participants, providing opportunities to enhance their professional competencies.
This republican methodological seminar serves as an important platform for discussing current issues in pedagogical education, exchanging experience, and implementing modern approaches aimed at the development of reading literacy.
