On April 29, a republican scientific and popular round table titled “Ilyas’s World: Language and Cognition” was held at the Language Palace in the city of Taldykorgan. Literary scholars, teachers, students, and school pupils took part in the event, where the artistic nature and cognitive depth of Ilyas’s poetry were comprehensively discussed.
The moderator of the round table — Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor, and Director General of the A. Baitursynuly Institute of Linguistics, Anar Fazylzhanova — delivered a speech highlighting the role of Ilyas Zhansugurov’s legacy in shaping modern national consciousness.
During the meeting, representatives of the International Society “Kazakh Language,” the Writers’ Union of Kazakhstan, and scholars from Zhetysu University spoke about the linguistic and artistic features of Ilyas’s poetry.
Shara Assetovna Kyyakhmetova, Candidate of Philological Sciences and Acting Professor at I. Zhansugurov Zhetysu University, presented a report titled “Known and Unknown Ilyas Zhansugurov,” emphasizing the continuity of national worldview and artistic system in his works.
Young researchers also presented their studies and exchanged views. Issues related to studying Ilyas’s works from new methodological perspectives, including within the framework of digital humanities, were discussed.
During the event, students of the “Kazakh Language and Literature” program won prizes in a republican competition organized by the A. Baitursynuly Institute of Linguistics. First-year students supervised by Candidate of Philological Sciences and Acting Professor Mamilya Turgambaevna Dzhakypbekova achieved top results: Asan Ayaulym won 1st place, and Kerimbekova Yenlik took 3rd place. The winners were awarded diplomas, monetary prizes, and special gifts by the Institute’s Director General, A. Fazylzhanova.
At the end of the event, participants proposed initiatives to promote Ilyas Zhansugurov’s legacy more widely and to improve its teaching in schools and higher education institutions.
