A meeting with Arsen Zhakhanbayev, Chairman of the Water Resources Committee under the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was held at Zhetysu University named afterI lyas Zhansugurov as part of the national environmental campaign “Taza Kazakhstan.” The event was attended by more than 150 students offline and over 1,000 participants online.
The meeting was moderated by Vice-Rector for Social Affairs and Youth Policy Bolat Seriyev. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of the event, noting that the efficient use of water resources is one of the most pressing issues today. He also highlighted the need to foster environmental awareness among young people and to promote a responsible attitude toward natural resources.
Arsen Zhakhanbayev delivered a lecture to students on the topic “Save Water – Preserve the Future!” and provided information about the work being carried out in the field of water resource management in the country.
“Water is the source of life. Saving it is the responsibility of every citizen. Currently, large-scale work is being carried out in our country to ensure the efficient management of water resources. In particular, efforts are being made to modernize outdated reservoirs, regulate water flow, restore irrigation systems, and introduce water-saving technologies,” said the Chairman of the Committee.
He also noted the increasing risk of water scarcity and emphasized the importance of developing a culture of water conservation.
At the end of the event, a number of staff members and students who contributed to promoting the culture of responsible water use and environmental awareness were awarded Letters of Appreciation from the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
As part of the visit, Arsen Zhakhanbayev familiarized himself with the university’s material and technical base and visited the university museum.
