An extended expert session titled “Interethnic Provocations on Social Media and Ways to Counter Them” was held at Zhetysu University named after Ilyas Zhansugurov.
The session was chaired by Bolat Seriyev, Vice-Rector for Social Affairs and Youth Policy. He highlighted the importance of strengthening young people’s legal awareness and media literacy, as well as ensuring safety in the digital environment.
The session featured Natalya Kalashnikova, Chair of the Republican Public Association “Shanyrak Association of ANC Departments” and Director of the Shanyrak Scientific and Educational Centre at L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University; Alisher Satvaldiyev, former Senator and Head of the Journalists’ Club; and Asem Kaidarova, Doctor of Political Science.
The speakers addressed the prevention of interethnic provocations on social media, the development of critical thinking and information literacy, and the strengthening of social cohesion and mutual understanding among different ethnic communities.
Participants received reference and informational materials on key concepts related to interethnic relations and took part in a survey.
