The Kazakhstan Cross-Country Championships for all age categories were held in Taldykorgan on 7–8 October 2026.
The national competition brought together nearly 300 athletes from 16 regions of the country. According to the championship results, the Zhetysu Region team took first place in the overall team standings.
Students of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Arts at Zhetysu University named after I. Zhansugurov demonstrated outstanding performances and won several prizes at the competition.
Individual men’s and women’s events:
- Zhanabek Yesenbol – second place in the 12-kilometre race;
- Kunbolatkyzy Zhansaya – third place in the 6-kilometre race.
Men’s and women’s mixed relay (4×2 kilometres):
- Zhanabek Yesenbol – second place.
Under-23 mixed relay (4×2 kilometres):
- Kudaybergen Saniya – first place;
- Ormangali Madiyar – first place.
Under-20 mixed relay (4×2 kilometres):
- Rauan Alibek – first place;
- Tumarbekova Dagara – first place;
- Kunbolatkyzy Zhansaya – first place.
Under-18 mixed relay (4×1 kilometre):
- Nuarazbek Arailym – second place.
The organiser and chief referee of the Kazakhstan Championships was Sepbosynov Yerken, President of the Zhetysu Region Athletics Federation and a graduate of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Arts.
These achievements are the result of our students’ hard work, perseverance and systematic training. Their outstanding performances at the national competition and honourable representation of the Zhetysu Region are a source of great pride for our university.
