On 13 October, Zhetysu University hosted an official meeting and a research workshop with a delegation from the University of Central Asia.
During the meeting, the rectors of the two universities, Yermek Buribayev and Christopher Gerry, discussed the next steps in developing educational and research cooperation. The parties expressed their readiness to continue their work under the memorandum signed in 2025, conduct joint research, apply for international research grants, provide educational opportunities for students, and use the research facilities of both universities.
The research workshop focused on international grant opportunities, collaboration with international donors and researchers, and the development of research projects. Ecology, biology, agronomy, ecotourism, education, digitalisation, and artificial intelligence were identified as priority areas for cooperation.
At the end of the visit, the guests toured the Marche Campus and visited the laboratories of the Research Institute, the greenhouse, and the Speed Breeding project.
The meeting marked an important step towards developing a long-term educational and research partnership between the two universities.
