During a visit to Indonesia to attend the QS Summit 2026 international summit, Zhetysu University named after I. Zhansugurov signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Airlangga University (Universitas Airlangga – UNAIR).
Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) is one of Indonesia’s leading public research universities. Founded in 1954 in the city of Surabaya, the university is ranked among the world’s top 300 higher education institutions according to the QS World University Rankings, demonstrating its strong international academic reputation. UNAIR has a well-developed research infrastructure and actively participates in international educational and research projects.
The key priorities of the new partnership include developing cooperation in physics and mathematics, natural sciences and technology, as well as law and economics. These areas provide a promising foundation for joint research, academic exchange programmes and educational initiatives.
Within the framework of this cooperation, particular attention will be paid to advancing interdisciplinary research, engaging young researchers in international scientific projects, exchanging research expertise and expanding academic mobility opportunities.
Establishing cooperation with one of Indonesia’s leading universities marks another important step for Zhetysu University. This partnership will create new opportunities to strengthen the university’s research potential, improve the quality of its educational programmes and expand its international academic connections.
