On April 15, 2026, the Zhetysu University named after Ilyas Zhansugurov hosted a freestyle wrestling competition among students for the Cup of the Chairman of the Board – Rector. A total of 60 students took part in the tournament.
The competition was held across various weight categories ranging from 57 to 125 kg.
The main objectives of the tournament were to promote a healthy lifestyle among students, enhance their individual athletic skills, and strengthen friendly and sporting relations between faculties.
Five teams representing all faculties of the university, as well as the college, participated in the competition.
Team standings:
1. Faculty of Law and Economics — 1st place
2. Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology — 2nd place
3. Faculty of Physics and Mathematics — 3rd place
The winning teams and individual student champions were awarded the Cup of the Chairman of the Board – Rector of Zhetysu University named after Ilyas Zhansugurov, along with certificates of merit.
