At Zhetysu University named after Ilyas Zhansugurov, the traditional republican student and youth festival “Ilyas Alemi” was held, organized by the Scientific and Practical Center for Ilyas Studies.
The festival began with a ceremony of laying flowers at the poet’s monument.
As part of the event, a poetry contest titled “Let Me Build a Beautiful Palace from My Words” and an expressive reading competition titled “Poetry is the Harmony of Every Word” were organized.
Students from higher education institutions and colleges across the country took part in the festival. In particular, participants represented Shakarim University of Abai Region, Makhambet Utemisov West Kazakhstan University, Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University, Kazakh National Women’s Teacher Training University, Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University, Meta University, “Bolashak” University in Kyzylorda, Zharkent Higher Pedagogical College, Taldykorgan Industrial College, Taldykorgan Service and Technology College, and Tekeli Vocational College.
At the end of the festival, Vice-Rector for Social Work and Youth Policy of Zhetysu University, Bolat Seriev, and Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Raigul Zheldibayeva, delivered speeches and expressed their gratitude to the participants.
The winners of the expressive reading competition and poetry contest were awarded diplomas and cash prizes. In addition, the winners received the English version of the poem “Kulager” as a commemorative gift.
