From June 30 to July 1, 2026, the 35th International Memorial Athletics Tournament dedicated to the memory of Gusman Kosanov, Honored Master of Sports of the USSR, was held in Shymkent.
The prestigious international competition brought together more than 250 athletes from 11 countries. Students of the Faculty of Physical Education and Arts at Zhetysu University named after Ilyas Zhansugurov delivered outstanding performances and won several medals.
Ayana Bolatbekkyzy claimed the gold medal in the 1,500-meter race, finishing in first place. In addition, she fulfilled the Master of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan standard for the second time in this event and also met the qualification standard for the Asian Games for the second time. She also earned third place in the 800-meter race.
Akbayan Nurmamet won the bronze medal in the 1,500-meter event and the silver medal in the 800-meter event, successfully concluding the competition.
